In spite of having a broken leg, a Greyhound was able to guide a vet two kilometers to her offspring while wandering the streets.

The one who discovered the young puppy and took her to the vet was Lianne Powell, a psychologist.

Upon realizing that the dog was lactating, they concluded that she had recently given birth. “We put a collar on her and a long leash and simply trailed behind her,” said veterinarian Ellen Sobry, who added, “She knew where she was going.”

Powell recounted, “She led us through alleys and highways, across fields and along muddy paths, dragging her injured leg at times… And there in the back were ten lovely, chubby, and healthy puppies.”

Sobry continued, “It was remarkable—I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. This dog didn’t know us, and we had only met her an hour before, so it was truly amazing how she chose to trust us and show us where they were.”

The Greyhound mom, Vera, and her pups are now recuperating at Sobry’s clinic, and the Ibizan Canine Rescue will assist in finding them a forever home once they are ready.

A woman discovered the dog and brought her to the veterinarian, where they discovered she had just given birth.

“We put a collar on her and a long leash and simply followed her,” they said.

“She led us down muddy paths, hopping and dragging her cast…”

Vera, the Greyhound mother, is recovering at the veterinarian’s clinic with her pups.

Once they are ready for adoption, a loving permanent home will be found for them.
