It’s hard to imagine how anyone could abandon their pet, but sadly, it happens all too often. This was the case with a dog who was bought as a pet, but when the trend had gone, he was left outside to starve.
We received a report about the dog, and when we arrived on the scene, it was heartbreaking to see him in such a condition. He was skin and bones, left outside in the elements with no food or water. We knew we had to do something to help him.
However, when we approached the owner to ask if we could take the dog, he demanded $30. It was an outrageous demand, especially considering the poor condition of the dog. We had to have a lengthy conversation to convince him to let us take the dog without payment.
Once we got the dog, we rushed him to the vet to get him the care he needed. It was clear that he had been neglected for a long time, and his blood sugar was dangerously low. The vet worked tirelessly to stabilize him and get him back to a healthy weight.
Despite everything he had been through, the dog was incredibly resilient. He had a sweet nature and a strong will to live. After weeks of intensive care and lots of love and attention, he began to make a full recovery.
